I am from the Philadelphia region, and have now lived in Arlington, VA for three years. My bachelors degree is in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice, and my Masters Degree is in Forensic & Legal Psychology. By day, I work as an analyst with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Despite this career path, I have been playing music for 15 years, and have been in the same band since I was in the 7th grade. Music is truly a passion of mine, which I could never replace. I love to sing, I love to write, and there's nothing better than landing a smooth blues solo over your favorite tracks - you know, that moment when you stop whatever work you're doing because you hear a song/jam that you MUST lay down some notes over - that's the best. It's this passion that I intend to instill into my students as they begin their musical journey.
My career has been dedicated towards the protection of children, because they are our greatest asset. My role during the day contributes directly to finding missing children, and preventing their exploitation. I have experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum in an academic and home setting, and additional research experience working directly with first-time juvenile offenders. It is important to use your abilities to help those around you, and I believe it is the vulnerable populations described above that need your help most. This includes, however, spreading joy, and reminding them that world is a beautiful place. I believe music is the most effective medium for this, which is why I've never stopped playing.
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Mayer, ELO, Buddy Guy, Radiohead, Norah Jones, Black Sabbath, Incubus, Snarky Puppy, Vulfpeck, Death Cab For Cutie; Dr. Dog, The Beatles, Lo-Fi (Genre), and seriously way more
Unfortunately, I have yet to have to opportunity to travel, but I intend to drive south to New Orleans and west to the see the Red Woods for my first domestic trips. I plan to get to New Zealand, Japan, Ireland, and France for my first international trips.
I have experience in a behavioral/therapeutic and academic setting working with children on the Autism Spectrum.
