With over 20 years of teaching experience, Roger has taught guitar to nearly 1,000 students, of all ages and abilities and in a variety of styles. He earned his Master of Music in classical guitar performance from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, studying with the great Manuel Barrueco and Ray Chester, as well as taking part in numerous master classes with many other great players. Roger has performed throughout the East Coast of the United States, including as part of concert series and at universities, restaurants, and clubs.
I have been told by parents and kids alike that I am great to work with because I am patient as well as spontaneous and fun. I provide a mixture of structure and play, so that students remain interested and engaged during lessons and between them. I take a long view with educating children, understanding that particularly when they are under the age of ten, it is productive to focus on musical development and building rapport between the teacher and student. Students under the age of ten often have motor-skill development challenges when it comes to learning the guitar, as the guitar is a motor-skill intensive instrument. Later, during adolescence when many students' hands have fully developed, the time spent developing their music foundation pays off.

Roger's casual approach and friendly demeanor are a perfect approach. Our daughter anticipates weekly interaction with Roger. He is both a skilled musician and measured teacher focused on the long-game of loving music rather than immediate gains.

Roger was my first guitar teacher, and one of the best teachers that I've had the pleasure to work with. He is an exceptionally capable and talented educator.

My son is now in college and taking a music major. I am truly convincined that Roger's influence and care helped grow Jeffery's natural interest in music.
