Nicole Saphos is an indie-jazz singer, songwriter, and bassist. Upon graduating from Temple University in 2012, the Los Angeles native relocated to DC, formed her own trio, and began her professional music career in earnest. To date, she’s performed at such venerated venues as The Kimmel Center, Lincoln Center, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Smithsonian American Art Museum, among others.
Last Spring, Nicole teamed up with Local Woman Records for the release of her sophomore EP "Buzz & Bloom"; a collection of seven original songs, that stretches far beyond the strict jazz confines of her debut album, "Tiptoe". With a style reminiscent of Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor and Aimee Mann, the writing on Buzz & Bloom is ‘jazzy and engaging without sacrificing a shred of pop sensibility’ - RTP Music Blog.
Nicole’s two albums, "Tiptoe" [2016] and "Buzz & Bloom" [2018] are available for download everywhere. Limited edition CD & Vinyl are available only at www.nicolesaphos.com.
The process of teaching and engaging students at the beginning of their musical journey is a true joy for me. Many of my current high school students started working with me in middle or elementary school, and over the years I have had the pleasure of watching them discover, and build upon their musicality.
