Originally from New Hampshire, I started my exploration of music with the piano around the age of six and throughout grade school continued to explore music through the trombone, tuba, euphonium, and voice. In high school, I was also heavily involved in the theater program as an actor. I earned my Bachelor of Music (Music Education) degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. After graduating, I was immediately hired to teach elementary school general music, band, and chorus full-time for grades K - 5 for the Athol-Royalston Regional School District in Athol, Massachusetts. After five years of teaching, I decided to return to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for the Master of Music program, awarded in May 2015. I am currently working toward earning a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland College Park.
I am currently studying with Craig Mulcahy. Previous teachers include David Sporny and Greg Spiridopoulos.
I have five years of experience teaching classes of elementary school students (Kindergarten - 5th grade) in general music, band, and chorus. I have also taught private instrumental lessons to students of a wide variety of ages and instruments. In my teaching I strive to be empathetic with students needs and desires. Through constant and very careful reflection and planning, I adjust my teaching to fit each individual student. I am continually working to improve my effectiveness as a teacher.

I have toured extensively throughout the United States as a member of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. The farthest away I have vacationed is Cozumel, Mexico.
I taught elementary school general music, band, and chorus for 5 years in a community with a large number of special needs students. I adapted my teaching to fit the particular needs of individual students.
It was fantastic. Josh arrived on time, he kept the kids engaged and they told me that they really liked him. Remy even said to me afterwards that she wanted to become a piano teacher when she grows up! Thanks for reaching out -- the kids are really looking forward to their next lesson!
