About Jonathan S. Download Resume

Jonathan Sloane is a multi-talented, lifelong musician, instructor, guitarist and lyricist based in Rockville, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. His compositions, tone and lyrical lead guitar playing are deeply rooted in the blues; expanding into R&B, rock 'n' roll, funk and soul.

Sloane has played to sold out crowds at both the local and national level. He is a sought after talent in the Baltimore and Washington, DC music scenes. Recently, he performed with the Bandhouse Gigs collective, a group of local musicians intent on honoring the legacy of legendary acts like Jimi Hendrix and The Band; and has shared the stage with some of the top performers in the region, including The Patty Reese Band, Daryl Davis, The Nighthawks, saxophone extraordinaire Ron Holloway, Mary Ann Redmond and the Cris Jacobs Band.

Jonathan writes and performed with several of his own bands, each offering a unique outlet for his eclectic influences to shine.

Why I Work Well with Kids

I am able to apply incentive for completing work, and I am able to encourage reading and learning music. I have experience working with kids.

Most Influential Bands / Musicians

I am mostly influenced by 60’s and 70’s rock ‘n’ roll, blues, jazz, reggae, soul, gospel, funk and many other active bands today. Some of my favorite musicians include Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Miles Davis, Jeff Beck, Wilco, the Band, Michael Jackson, John Coltrane, Chuck Berry, U2, the Police, Albert King, BB King, Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and many more!

Playing and teaching music is my passion and my career, but I have many other interests. I enjoy playing checkers, watching movies, art, exercise, writing, reading, model cars, history, listening to music, acting and anything else related to music!

Favorite Movies

I enjoy comedies, drama, horror, action and classics.

Places Traveled

Throughout my life I have been fortunate enough to travel to many different locations within the U.S.A. and in Europe. Recently, I had the pleasure of touring the country with a few very talented musicians in a Beatles Reggae Tribute band called Yellow Dubmarine. We had the opportunity to visit and play music in 46 states in the U.S.. By far, the highlight of the touring was playing at Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorado!
