Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Piano
Jazz, Classical
I first heard Jazz music when my family moved to New Orleans. Later we moved to Cincinnati and I took up the saxophone. I never found it hard to practice because I loved the sound. I began to excel at music while enrolled in private lessons and I also found an interest in playing similar woodwind instruments and began learning flute and clarinet. I began to play the piano in high school and realized that I desired to pursue music professionally. I began studies at Florida Southwestern State College and began studying classical & jazz saxophone. I continued my clarinet and flute playing as well. I was soon enrolled in lessons with local members of the Southwest Florida Symphony and the Naples Philharmonic. At this time I also started playing musicals at the community theatre playing woodwind doubles regularly. After college I decided to move to Washington D.C. Shortly after moving I was invited to do a short tour on the baritone saxophone with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra.
I started teaching music to my nephews and nieces when I was in high school. It proved to be excellent experience before going out and teaching in the real world. I was soon asked to teach woodwinds at some local music camps in the Southwest Florida area. Working with so many different personalities on a daily basis showed me that every student has their own pace of learning. I try to adjust my teaching pace to what is comfortable for the student so that we learn concepts thoroughly before moving on. I will spend as much time on each concept as I think is necessary but I expect the students to dedicate time in their week to learn the music. Accountability is just one of many good qualities you can learn from practicing music.

My son Luke was not very enthusiastic about clarinet just learning in schools. When he started private lessons, Gabe challenged him musically and rekindled his interest in clarinet. Now he plays first chair in his high school and is considering studying in college.

Gabe is just great with my daughter. Shortly after she started piano with him she had decided she was interested in flute and began studying with him. He made the transition from piano to flute so easy for her. She is becoming quite accomplished on the flute and still plays the piano!
Tony
My son initially started taking saxophone lessons with Gabe. When Luca expressed interest in learning other instruments, Gabe introduced him to the flute and clarinet and adjusted his schedule so that they could do a lesson on doubles once a month. Now my son plays in the school pit orchestra for their theatre dept and loves every minute of it!!
