Violin, Viola, Cello
I began classical violin lessons with Nancy Roth at the age of 5 and have been playing for the last 18 years. I have performed in pit orchestras, symphony orchestras, quartets, and ensembles and was a featured soloist with the Hunterdon Symphony Orchestra. As a native of Ireland I also have an affinity for fiddle music and spent time learning from street performers in Galway, Ireland's traditional music capital. I studied History at Providence College in Rhode Island where I played in the Orchestra and studied music theory.
I was born in Kinsale, Co. Cork, Ireland and love to travel. I've been to Singapore, Turkey, Morocco, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Norway, and Croatia (to name a few!) and hope to visit every country in the world. I also enjoy cooking, running, and reading - particularly historical books.
I am the oldest of three girls who all play the violin so I was often called in to my sisters' practices to help them with tricky fingering, memorization, intonation, and pieces that proved illusive. I understand firsthand just how aggravating it can be to master a song and how amazing it feels to conquer a particularly difficult bit. I focus on always being encouraging, letting students know that every musician faces obstacles and that hard work really pays off. My main goal is to make playing the violin a positive and fulfilling experience.

I have extensive experience working with students who have ADD so I have learned to adapt lessons to keep students interested. I also have experience teaching kids who have hand tremors, which makes it more difficult to control finger placement.
I am currently working towards an official Suzuki certification but I studied the Suzuki method for 13 years and have completed all ten books.
Arissa has really enjoyed having Clare as a teacher. Clare is patient and very encouraging and takes the time to explain to me what she has covered in each lesson. We're happy we were connected with her.
She's had two good lessons, thanks. Clare is wonderful.
Claire is fantastic - my daughter is enjoying her lessons in large part because she looks forward to seeing Claire. She practices because wants to please Claire by showing how she's improving. Claire is totally flexible about rescheduling lessons when we need to. Claire is great, we're very pleased!
