Christopher is a leading bass guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and educator based in Washington DC. He has performed on 5 continents in a huge variety of musical styles with over 20 years experience performing and teaching around the world.
He has appeared on 35+ albums as bassist and/or producer. He has shared the stage with many acts, opening for the likes of Tower of Power, Family Stone, Peaches, Amanda Palmer, Mark King, George Porter.
As an educator Chris has taught privately since 1997 offering an holistic approach to adults and children alike learning music on bass, guitar, piano, drums and with music technology.
I've been teaching kids aged 6 to 76 (!) for about twenty years. I really enjoy sharing in the process of discovery, making music fun and learning together. My experience has shown that patience, listening, structure and involving the parents in the process of learning music will illuminate the path for any enthusiastic young person.
Music in general influences me. Some of my favorite bass players are Marcus Miller, Oteil Burbridge and Jaco Pastorius.
Originally from the UK I've been fortunate to travel and perform around the world including France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Shanghai China, Thailand, Egypt, Peru, Mexico, Canada.
I've worked with students with special needs many times and we've had great success.
Chris has a huge depth of knowledge and experience in music, performance and production that matches his deep empathy and understanding of people. He has been extremely kind and encouraging teacher, although it really feels like more of a partnership! I've worked with Chris for more than 3 years and he is definitely one of the best in the DC area.
