Chieko M is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance at Catholic University of America, in addition to teaching and freelancing in the D.C. metropolitan area.
Prior to arriving in Washington D.C. Chieko received her professional studies certificate at the Manhattan School of Music, her Masters degree at the State University of New York in Fredonia, and her Bachelors degree at the Tokyo College of Music. Most recently she studied at the University of North Texas where she served as a Teaching Fellow. While in New York she was an active freelancer and a member of the Manhattan Symphonie, which toured China in 2010 and 2011.
In 2006, Chieko moved to the United States from her home country of Japan. Before she set her focus towards the United States, she was performing and freelancing in Tokyo, frequently appeared with the Tokyo Symphony, and also performed with the Japan and New Japan Philharmonic Orchestras.
