I was born and raised in Washington, DC. I went to elementary school at St. Augustine's Catholic School, Archbishop Carroll High School and I received my BA in Music from Hampton University in Hampton, Va. I enjoy composing music as well as playing. I don't have a favorite between the 2. I found myself getting musically involved when I was in 3rd grade. I didn't start piano until I was 13 years old. I am in pursuit of my MA in Composition and hope to one day write for movies or other media such as video games, commercials and TV. I love to travel many places, so far I've done most of my travel in the US, but I hope to explore other places around the world.
I work well with kids because I look at them as teaching a younger me. I like to have fun, but it's easy to be reserved when you aren't so sure or used to be in different environments. It's easier to be an effective teacher when you know how to relate to children. As an adult this includes encouraging them at a younger age about not being fearful or handling mistakes and how to know how much pressure is healthy and what is not. As a composer and performer, these are things you want kids to understand early in life because not only are these traits in musicians but any other profession in life or just every day tasks. I also enjoy being able to keep them interested by teaching in a way they will understand, making the learning fun, not boring.

"A great teacher Cameron is, my 8 yr old son looks forward to his lesson because it was fun playing a song that he always wanted to play. He also enjoys Cameron because he listens and shares his similarities which makes it easier for him to pay attention as well when Cameron teaches."

My daughter enjoys her lesson, she can't wait to show me what she's learned and Cameron makes the lessons fun by including games and other ways I never knew you could use to teach piano.
