Alanah is currently pursuing a degree in Viola Performance at the University of Maryland, where she is on a merit based scholarship. She has studied with musicians from the Baltimore and Annapolis symphonies and other highly respected local artists. Alanah is a proud alumnus of the Baltimore School for the Arts where she served as a mentor to younger students as principal violist. She has attended festivals such as Eastern Music Festival, Apple Hill, and Interlochen, where she was a member of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. In particular, she enjoys playing chamber music because it is rewarding to work with a small group and really connect with others through music.
I am an only child who always hoped for siblings, so when I was ten years old and my aunt gave birth to twins, I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Now that I am in college, I still make it a priority to spend time with them. I think it is very important to relate to kids based off of your own experiences during childhood. You should never underestimate a child's ability to learn and develop new skills. I am good with kids because I value them as human beings.
